4 Reasons Why You Should Spend Time In Nature

Have you ever realized how a walk on the beach or going for a run could really help clear your mind? How everything that may have been bothering you starts to evaporate in thin air. I have always been a lover of the outdoors, especially when my thoughts are everywhere else instead of where I need them to be.

Nature is a calming place for me and it can also be one for you.  It is a place where you can disconnect from the world and bring peace to your mind, body and soul. I know what you’re thinking.. You CAN’T because you don’t have time or you’re just not the outdoors type. For one, NEVER say that you can’t do something, because you can do anything you put your mind to. You may not like the outdoors, but if you just spend 10-20 minutes in nature you will definitely feel the difference.

There are so many reasons why we should spend time in nature. Here’s a few.

Disconnect From The World :

In this generation, our world revolves around our technology. Some of us can not even go a day without picking up our devices and that is extremely unhealthy. Sometimes, we need time to ourselves and what better place to be than outdoors. We won’t be able to feel to full effect of nature’s doing if we can not disconnect from our technology and connect with nature. We need to be all the way there!

Calms The Mind :

Have you ever woke up to the many variations of birds singing? Isn’t it such a very peaceful sound. Or maybe, you meditate as I do, most of the time I go for nature noises because I love the soft and sweet sounds of birds, waterfalls, trees, etc. It is so many beautiful creatures that make unique noises that are astonishing. Those sounds can calm a storm. 🙂

Get Your Share Of Vitamin D :

When I was younger, I stayed outside until my mom called for me to come in. No one had to beg me to get up and go outside because I did that on my own. I just enjoyed the outdoors. It is estimated now that kids aged 5-16 years old spend an average of 6 1/2 hours a day on technology, according to BBC News. Which means they may not be getting the necessary amount of vitamin D that is recommended. However, kids are not the only ones who are missing their daily dose of sunlight. We, as adults are as well. Some of us work inside jobs and never have the time. Again, just by spending an amount of 10-20 minutes outside we can avoid getting vitamin D deficiency and if you enjoy the couch on your off days, lucky for you there are vitamins that are available. I prefer sunlight 🙂

Becoming More Mindful :

When you explore nature it is best that you leave all the distractions behind. It is best that you have a focused mind so you can become mindful of your surroundings and fully enjoy the beautiful things around you. You will feel a deeper and fuller connection with nature if you have no distractions. You can explore all of your senses and you may notice a variation of sounds and/or smells that you wouldn’t think you’d notice. Mindfulness is a very important part of connecting with nature.

Now go and enjoy the wonders of nature:)

  1. I’m not much of a nature lover, so I didn’t think I would find much of value in this post. But to be completely honest, I learned a bit more than I thought I would. I never thought about the calming effect of nature because I’m always trying to dodge the bugs in the bees. I also didn’t think about the vitamin D element of sunshine. So we are enjoying great weather in Kansas City. I think I’ll take my little boy for a walk this afternoon. Surely I won’t get a bee sting LOL

Thanks for posting. You really gave me an opportunity to look at the outdoors a little bit differently

    1. Awesome, I’m so glad that you got a little something from my post. I totally try dodging the outdoor creatures but once you get past that, you will feel all the benefits. (:

  2. I can’t wait until it warms up here in Michigan and we can spend more time outside. We take our dog on a short walk every day throughout the winter, so we probably get out a bit more than most, but I’m excited to take longer walks at the park, lay in the grass and spend days at the beach!
